The purpose of the athletic program at NHCA is to provide students with a setting to glorify God through the development and exercise of personal character, sportsmanship, self-discipline, and athletic ability. Student athletes are encouraged to do their best and to learn the vital life-skills of being a team player. In victory or defeat, students are taught to demonstrate both grace and dignity.
Through a developing program of interscholastic sports, our athletes compete in:
- Basketball (MS/HS girls/boys)
- Soccer (MS/HS co-ed)
- Volleyball (MS/HS girls)
- Cheerleading (5-8th grade girls)
As our program expands, we hope to add additional sporting opportunities. Our teams currently compete against public, private, and other club teams.
Brian Roseberry resides in South Salem with his beautiful wife, Sheryl. They have four children: Jacob, Kennedy, Josie, and Kassady. They will soon have four grandchildren: Emmitt (2), Jackson (1), Gracie (3 months), and Amelia (due in October). He has a very close-knit family, who meets after church nearly every Sunday for what they call Food After Teaching. Brian is a sports-lover, and his favorite teams are the Arsenal Gunners (Soccer), Duke Blue Devils (Basketball), the Ohio State Buckeyes (Football), and all Cleveland teams! He received his Bachelor of Arts in Leadership & Ministry from Ohio Christian University through the AGS program in May of 2015. Brian then returned to school in May of 2018 to strive for his Master’s in Athletic Administration through Ohio University. He has worked this year in the guidance department and has several years of experience in athletic programming, including coaching.
Some of his more immediate goals are to exhibit a strong sense of character judgment by putting the right people in the right places within NHCA programs. Brian also wants to exhibit excellent communication skills and be ready to speak for the programs and the school. He wants to recognize the wide range of abilities, talents, and needs of our student body by offering individualized college and career information and guidance. Brian will support and educate our parents, students, and staff and connect them to appropriate community resources. Most importantly, he desires to exhibit passion for the Lord, our school, academics, and athletics by demonstrating what discipleship, sportsmanship and leadership mean within the programs. Brian feels beyond blessed to have been honored with this ministry and to lead our NHCA Family into a relationship with Jesus Christ!
His big picture vision is to continue the excellent work that former A.D. Caleb Williams and others before him started at the school and to continue to show the local community that New Hope Christian Academy is a great option for their children, both in the areas of academics and athletics. In addition to the excellent athletic teams and coaching we now have available, he would like to offer additional sports to give our students even more extracurricular activities to choose from. Brian is thankful to New Hope for this great opportunity! He has enjoyed his role this year as the Middle School Social Studies teacher but is looking forward to a rewarding challenge moving into the role of Athletic Director and Guidance Counselor for the school.
